Stress partitioning and effective behavior of N-phase laminates in anisotropic elasticity from a fast explicit method

In this work, a fast explicit method, easy to implement numerically, is proposed in order compute the effective behavior and distribution of stresses general N-phase laminate made parallel, planar perfectly bonded interfaces. The solutions are exact for homogeneous far-field loading work an arbitrary number phases, linear anisotropic elasticity, as well different uniform thermal plastic strains phases. A simple direct analytical formula also derived stress given phase once known. Moreover, correctness method checked by comparisons with finite element simulation results on same boundary value problem, showing excellent agreements. An application performed near-β titanium alloy elongated grains, comparing level internal elastic loadings within 100,000 orientations 2-phase equal volume fraction maximal contrast. Interestingly, maximum von Mises always lowest, which explained effect. Finally, self-consistent models considering oblate spheroidal grains aspect ratios performed.
